Holiday Lighting Program

The Holiday Lighting program was started in 1948 by Mary Lou Morse and her husband, family and friends. It was a time to be more festive as World War II had ended and loved ones were returning home. The trees were smaller then and easy to string lights on and became a personal passion of the Morse Family.

As the trees grew so did the popularity of seeing the lit trees on the Green. Eventually, the family and HCSA turned to Hudson Public Power to use their trucks and equipment. Over time, the Holiday Lighting has become a collaboration between HCSA and Hudson Public Power.

HCSA raises money through private donations to furnish materials for decorating: lights, bows, wreaths, the Clocktower Mouse, and roping. The city absorbs the labor and utility costs.

It has been a good working relationship, but the key has been the generous donations from city residents, organizations, foundations and merchants who have steadfastly donated the necessary funds to make it possible.

In 2021, HCSA was able to upgrade the lighting in the Gazebo with funds that had been donated.

Donations towards the Holiday Lighting can be mailed to HCSA - Holiday Lighting PO Box 1472 Hudson, OH 44236, or by clicking below.
